Good feeders, and a VERY FAIR price at Chubby

I had four of these, and with use, the bases finally jammed up, so I ended up with 4 feeders and 2 bases. (I try and keep any spares, for future use!!) Keeping in mind these have had constant use over about 3 years or more. VERY easy to clean. I am particular about cleanliness around my feeders, but my hands will not cope with anything diofficult to take apart for cleaniing. This is why I usually have a few feeders to rotate and clean. These Honeyfield Sunflower Heart feeders appear to suit sparrows, all finches, and blue tits. The bigger birds cannot get a grip on the feeders to feed (I do feed the bigger birds too). I have other feeders which are for instance, for clingers, and the Rooks manage to cling, and spill the sunflowers out of the feeders!!! So for my part these feeders are one of the more successful feeders I have used. I am hoping to use black sunflowers in these in winter, as we get a lot of rain, and the dehusked sunflowers can get a bit "old" very quickly in wet weather, if not checked after 4 days of consistent rain. I was very pleased I found these at Chubby, and for a very fair price.

Sunflower Heart feeder

I'm impatient, I wanted more birds and they weren't visiting my last sunflower heart feeder as much as I'd liked. Every birding group has a photo with a feeder similar to this just covered in birds. That's what I wanted.

The feeder arrived quickly in simple, mostly recyclable packaging.
The feeder did look a little bit shabby but I put that down to storage. Small rust marks on the hanger, dirt/oil on the base. I thought the birds won't notice so I didn't either.

It holds a lot of seed, and I was surprised they didnt all spill out. In fact less than a handful scattered about.

The easy to remove base is a game changer, I am almost looking forward to cleaning it.

The stainless steel cage was in perfect condition. Also hangs well and doesn't squeak.

I worry the lid is too easy to lift but haven't yet had a problem with my grey squirrels.

Second day of hanging it had birds on, even the robin who preferred the old caged feeder, will dive for a seed if one is poking out.

Visitors so far include: blue tit, great tit, coal tit and a few dive bombings by the robin. No difference yet from the other feeder with who it attracts, but my birds are still very much after suet with seed a strong second so I'd like to see who visits in the summer.

Overall a great, strong, tidy, easy to clean feeder.
