I'm impatient, I wanted more birds and they weren't visiting my last sunflower heart feeder as much as I'd liked. Every birding group has a photo with a feeder similar to this just covered in birds. That's what I wanted.
The feeder arrived quickly in simple, mostly recyclable packaging.
The feeder did look a little bit shabby but I put that down to storage. Small rust marks on the hanger, dirt/oil on the base. I thought the birds won't notice so I didn't either.
It holds a lot of seed, and I was surprised they didnt all spill out. In fact less than a handful scattered about.
The easy to remove base is a game changer, I am almost looking forward to cleaning it.
The stainless steel cage was in perfect condition. Also hangs well and doesn't squeak.
I worry the lid is too easy to lift but haven't yet had a problem with my grey squirrels.
Second day of hanging it had birds on, even the robin who preferred the old caged feeder, will dive for a seed if one is poking out.
Visitors so far include: blue tit, great tit, coal tit and a few dive bombings by the robin. No difference yet from the other feeder with who it attracts, but my birds are still very much after suet with seed a strong second so I'd like to see who visits in the summer.
Overall a great, strong, tidy, easy to clean feeder.
